Anachron and zumzum win Business Stream contract for electronic billing portal.

Amsterdam, January 2009 – Anachron announced that Business Stream – a Scottish Water company, will be implementing a new electronic billing (eBilling) service based on the Anachron software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. This will compliment the existing range of online customer tools Business Stream launched in 2008, designed to make life easier for its’ 96,000 water and waster water customers.

“We place the customer at the heart of everything we do and we are continuing our drive to increase customer satisfaction by providing a range of innovative online services” said Tony McHardy, Head of Sales and Marketing at Business Stream. “eBilling is an integral part of a range of new online services we have introduced for customers, offering customers the ability to view bills, submit meter readings and make payments. All of this can be achieved by the customer day or night without the need to pick up the phone and call us. ”.

Paul Smith, IT Manager at Business Stream explains: “We choose Anachron and zumzum to develop our eBilling portal because of their impressive track record of implementations within Europe, their highly regarded functionality and the ability to seamlessly integrate other processes or data with the eBilling solution. Our main focus was to add value for our customers, not only by presenting and archiving invoices online but also by adding capabilities that would enhance our customer experience”.

Frank Hoekstra, Managing Director of Anachron commented, “Business Stream is an innovative company that is already effectively making use of online services and technologies. Business Stream wanted more choice as to how they communicate billing information. We are delighted that Anachron has been selected as the technology platform to deliver this service.”

“The goal is to increase the number of customers using self-service for viewing billing information and managing queries online. This will give customers more choice and flexibility when managing their account. Self service not only improves the customer experience it also reduces costs that can ultimately be passed on to the customer so we are really excited about being able to advise Business Stream on expanding the use of eBilling” Added Bashrat Din, Managing Director of zumzum.

Business Stream will launch the e-Billing solution in 2009 so that customers can easily view and download their invoices within the Business Stream customer portal as well as make payments via the Royal Bank of Scotland WorldPay Service.

About Business Stream

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water, Business Stream has been formed as an arms-length company with its own board and independent management team. Its goal is to provide a first class service for business customers and respond to the challenge of other established utility companies entering the new, competitive market.

Under the Water Services etc. (Scotland) Act 2005, Scottish Water had to split its operation into wholesale (Scottish Water) and retail (Business Stream) units. Although ostensibly remaining a part of Scottish Water, Business Stream is a new business working completely independently of its parent company in order to ensure fair and transparent retail practice under the rules of the new competitive marketplace for business customers.
